Victim may help AIDS investigation

Medical authorities hope to freeze some of the body tissue of a 43-year-old man who died at Prince Henry’s Hospital on Friday with suspected AIDS. Identified only as Milton, the man is believed to be the first person in Australia to have died with Acquired Immunity Deficiency Syndrome. He had been a patient at the hospital for several weeks.

Homosexuals volunteer for 2-year AIDS study

Melbourne scientists have begun a two-year study of 100 homosexual volunteers to try to discover the link between homosexuality and the disease Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

The project, announced yesterday, is being undertaken jointly by the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
