Queensland plan to fight AIDS

A MAJOR announcement about guidelines drawn up to combat Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) will be made today by the State Health Minister, Mr Austin.

In preparation for the worst – potentially fatal cases of the disease – the Health Department has worked out guidelines for doctors, hospitals and blood-testing laboratories.

And the public is worried. The Red Cross Blood Bank in Brisbane has had to assure blood donors that they will not get AIDS from giving blood or from touching a Blood Bank couch. […]
