AIDS now ‘weapon’ in bank robberies

A robber has escaped with money from four New York banks after handing tellers a note saying he has AIDS. Police say the thief has netted $4900 using a note written on a deposit slip that says: “I have AIDS. I have less than 30 days to live. Give me all $20 bills. I have a gun. No one will be hurt. Co-operate!” — Launceston Examiner, 1 Aug 1983.
