Red Cross recalls blood plasma in AIDS scare

The American Red Cross has recalled more than 5500 vials of a blood factor concentrate supplied to hemophiliacs because it was donated by a man who later died of AIDS. A Red Cross statement said cone of the 100 to 200 hemophiliacs who have used the plasma batch has recorded contracting AIDS, and the recall was purely precautionary. — The Australian, 1 September 1983, p 7.
